Mango Season
Life and Love can both be a bit sticky

Hi Friends
Let me tell you a story.
I was in Mexico one August and saw a mango tree during mango season for the first time. And let me tell you—there were so many mangos. The tree was absolutely covered. You could barely see the leaves. They were falling all over the ground, filling baskets, attracting bees… it was wild. And just as suddenly as they appeared—poof. A few weeks later, the tree was back to normal. No more mangos.
Love—especially new love—is a lot like that.
When we meet someone new, the experience of New Relationship Energy (NRE) can be overwhelming. It's like the world suddenly feels more vivid, more delicious, more alive. It can also be scary and destabilizing. And just like mango season, it doesn’t last forever.
This isn’t a bad thing! It’s just how things grow and change. But while we’re in it, it’s worth noticing: Am I eating the mangos, or am I trying to freeze them and save them forever? Am I letting my partner enjoy their mangos? Am I obsessing over how many mangos everyone is getting?
Here’s my hot take: Let yourself (and your partner) enjoy mango season. Eat the mangos. Feel the joy. Just maybe don’t sign a mortgage or make a breakup decision while mango-drunk. Because what’s sweet now might pass, and what’s bitter might sweeten later.
And if you’re watching your partner enjoy their mango season while you’re in a mango drought? That’s tough. Truly. But asking them not to enjoy it probably won’t work—it might even make them want it more. So instead, try taking a deep breath, calling a friend, going for a walk. Your own season will come again. And when it does, eat your fill.
Because we all deserve sweetness, pleasure, and abundance. Especially when it's ripe and ready.
