Seattle Makes Polyamory a Protected Class: ENM Under the Law
Show notes
Seattle just made history — and Adam & Pris are unpacking it. This past week, the Seattle City Council voted unanimously to extend anti-discrimination protections to people in polyamorous relationships, adding polyamory, pansexuality, and asexuality to the city's legal definition of sexual orientation. So on this episode of Beyond Monogamy, Adam and Pris dig into what this means for the whole ethical non-monogamy (ENM) umbrella — polyamory, swinging, kink, and everything in between.
In this episode:
- The Seattle City Council's new law protecting polyamorous people from discrimination
- Is swinging covered under "consensual non-monogamy" too? Adam and Pris debate it
- Orientation vs. choice: are you born non-monogamous, or is it a decision?
- Real data — a 2025 survey found 61% of non-monogamous people report facing prejudice or discrimination
- Why so many in the swinger lifestyle and polyamorous communities stay closeted at work
- A candid, no-filter conversation between Adam and Pris about their own relationship dynamic
Whether you're poly, swinging, or somewhere in the beautiful gray area of ethical non-monogamy, this one's for you.
