Don’t Date Beyond Your Capacity in Polyamory

Polyamory means that you can theoretically date as many people as you want to, but in reality you only have so much time on your hands. Every non-monogamous person must learn the delicate balancing act of maintaining your responsibilities/commitments to existing partners with forging new connections.

As the saying goes: "Love is infinite, time and energy are not." And depending on your circumstances, personality, and existing commitments, some people have more/less time and energy than others. Learning to balance that, and more importantly, find people who want the same things as you, is absolutely key.

If you know that you can realistically only have time for a partner you see once a week, don't date someone who can only feel satisfied if they see you two days a week - unless your existing partner or other commitments can readjust to free up that time to make the relationship possible, which isn't always going to be feasible. It's simple maths.
