“My partner keeps cheating on me, so we're trying polyamory with the person he cheated on me with. Any thoughts?”

I’ve worked with many couple clients who are opening up from monogamy to polyamory for the first time, and on occasion, I work with couples who are working to open up from a place of infidelity. In my opinion, it’s not impossible to successfully do this, but it is 10 times more difficult… because you are coming from a place of broken trust, and high trust is key to successful non-monogamy! It also highly depends on why the cheating occurred and how the couple have been dealing with it up until this point. But that’s extremely individual!

Do you know anyone who successfully went from cheating to non-monogamy while keeping both the partner they cheated on and the one they had an affair with? What do you think of the situation?
