Dating app life hack: not everyone who says they are "open to monogamy and non-monogamy" is actually ambiamorous. Most people who say they are open to both relationship styles *actually* mean they are open to casual dating, but are ultimately looking for a monogamous relationship. Ambiamorous people exist and are valid, but are less common than casual daters. Make sure to ask clarifying questions to see if you are aligned on what you really want, and therefore avoid potential heartbreak!

I've said in the past that I don't swipe right on people who state they're "open to monogamy or non-monogamy" on their profiles, or who otherwise don't have super clear dating intentions/goals. It's NOT because I think people can't be ambiamorous, but because most people who state that, are not actually genuinely open to a long-term non-monogamous relationship.

Does this mean I am potentially missing out on connecting with some awesome ambiamorous people? Yes. But do I want to dredge through a ton of casual monogamous daters who will only waste my time/energy to have a 1% chance of finding them in that pile of people? No.
