Parallel Polyamory Means Extra Hinge Responsibility

Parallel polyamory is valid AND unfortunately, many hinges underestimate what it means to be the person in the middle managing the dynamic.

Communicating on behalf of multiple partners and making sure you're not misrepresenting anyone to the others is an objectively difficult task that most people struggle to do well the first time. At worst, a hinge might be avoiding responsibility by controlling the narrative that shifts the blame onto either one of your partners.

Guess who learnt this the hard way? 🤪

I'm here for all forms of polycule dynamics and I strongly believe that metamour relationships cannot be forced, AND the risk of parallel polyamory is that if the only channel of communication between two metamours is through the hinge in the middle, things can very quickly turn into a high-risk game of Telephone.

I experienced this around this time last year when there was a huge communication breakdown in my polycule and it was...a lot. At some point I will run a workshop on how to be a responsible hinge, because it is a lot of work!
